Box office – Doctor Strange 2 breaks the $800 million mark worldwide
The number of German cinemagoers is still very low. The top 20 films had a combined audience of only 520,000, despite not having any new releases. Just like the previous week, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness was able to attract six-digit numbers of visitors. The Marvel production attracted 200,000 people and made 2 million euros.
Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness has 1.55 Million visitors in Germany. It has also outsold its predecessor, who sold 1.46 million tickets in 2016.
The familiar faces of the past weeks, but also two newcomers, gather behind Doctor Strange in the German cinema charts. The other places are followed by Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore’s Secrets (57,000 visitors and 580,000 euros), Dog – Lucky has four paws (47,000 visitors and 430,000 euros), The Lost City – The Secret of the Lost City (32,500 visitors and 300,000 euros) and MET Opera: Lucia Di Lammermoor (Donizetti)(2022)(Live) (7700 admissions and EUR230,000).
Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness also ranks high on the USA’s cinema charts. The Marvel film grossed $31.6 million more in its third weekend. The film earned $362 million in the United States. Doctor Strange has now surpassed the $800 million worldwide mark.
Downton Abbey: A New Era was second in the US for best reboot with a gross of $16 million. It is followed by the Gangster Gang (6.1 million), Sonic the Hedgehog 2, ($3.9 million), and Men (3.3 million).
