The stories will tell of the real-life icons of history, including:
- Hannibal Hannibal, the Carthagian general fighting for the Roman Republic
- The mythical and historical Sheba, the Queen. Sheba
- Alexande dumas The author of The Count of Monte Cristo as well as The Musketeers
- Eugene Bullard, one of the World War One fighter pilot who was an American but was a pilot in France
DC states that the authors who will be featured in Milestones in History will include Reginald Hudlin, Alice Randall, Toure, and Michael Harriott. The publisher promises that additional writers, along with those who are artists will also be announced at a later time.
Even though Milestones in History is non-fiction it’s not without its own Milestone’s heroes . Static, Icon, Rocket, Hardware, and more will be the main characters in the true tales of the world’s history.
For the February 2022’s Black History Month, DC has also planned the massive 1350-page MIlestone Compedium One(opens in a new tab), a collected edition of the recently released Static Season One(opens in new tab), as well as a collection of Black History Month themed variations on the covers of all of the DC comics collection.
It follows on from a similar female-focused anthology by DC published in 2021. Wonderful Women of the World(opens in a new tab) – retelling stories of real women, but centered on Wonder Woman. Perhaps this is the beginning of a new series of non-fiction graphic novels featuring heroes as the narrators? We’d like to see an authentic crime-related anthology with Batman as the narrator. Batman.
Doug Brithwaite will draw the primary cover of Milestones in History, with an alternate cover being planned by Chriscross.
