It Takes Two TV series and movie adaptations are in development, thanks to a deal between Hazelight Studios and DJ2 Entertainment.

Variety(opens new tab) states that dj2 Entertainment is yet to find a network or studio for the It Takes Two TV series or movie. However, there are two writers attached. According to reports, Josh Miller and Pat Casey, the authors of the 2020 Sonic the Hedgehog film, and its sequel, have signed on to adapt It Takes Two.

Josef Fares, creative director, said that “creating the world and story for It Takes Two was so much of fun for me and my team.” It has a strong story with many interesting characters and equally crazy co-op actions moments. This makes it a huge potential for adaptation to television or film.

It Takes Two, a co-op-only platformer, received high praise from players and critics when it launched last January. The game even won the coveted GOTY award at The Game Awards 2020.

The story centers on Cody and May who are on the verge of divorcing. Their daughter Rose turns them into animated dolls for children. Rose becomes depressed when she learns of her parents’ impending separation. The story’s cooperative theme plays into the themes of working together to solve problems, whether it’s creating a vacuum to cross a large gap in platforms or helping with marital troubles.
