Modern Warfare 2 Raids explained

Modern Warfare 2 Raids explained

Modern Warfare 2 Raids is Infinity Ward’s attempt to add logic, puzzles, and more cooperation to Special Ops. There are regularly released episodes.

Modern Warfare 2 Raidings will bring a new experience to Call of Duty with a cooperative element when they are released later in the year. Raids, which will expand on the existing Spec Operations mode in FPS gaming, will offer a more immersive and challenging experience for three players when they release this December.

Modern Warfare 2 Raids is just one of many new additions to game mode in this year’s Call of Duty entry. There are also multiplayer, Warzone 2, and DMZ modes, making it a very varied launch. This will keep us busy for quite some time, but Infinity Ward promised more content in the coming months and years. Raids is one of the first Modern Warfare 2 post-launch content drops.

What is a Raid?

Although there isn’t much information available about Modern Warfare 2 Raids, we received some details from Infinity Ward. Director of communications Stephanie Snowden told us during a campaign launch event that communication and coordination were key to the game’s gameplay. She also explained that Raids will incorporate logic, combat and puzzles.

Although Infinity Ward couldn’t tell all of us at this point, we know that they will be something we can really dig into. Brian Bloom, narrative director, says that these aren’t an easy task. They are difficult to play, and we’ve only just begun. Snowden confirmed that each Raid will be a multi-hour experience.

What about their stories? These Raids will take place when and where? Bloom says that Raids will take place after Modern Warfare 2’s events. They will be seeking to answer “questions that go back [Modern Warfare] 2019 and even some that will arise out of the current campaign offering on the campaign side.” This lends itself to Raids’ episodic release schedule. New content will drop “every few months”, continuing to the story of the main characters.

Kits

Kits are a new feature in Call of Duty. They are specific to Spec Ops and will look similar to your normal multiplayer loadout of Perks and Killstreaks as well as Field upgrades. You can earn stars through achievements, mission completion, and progression and then use them to upgrade your kits. Infinity Ward recommends completing three of the first Special Ops missions before Raids launches to earn three stars. This will allow you to level up at most one kit to Rank 5.

  • Assault: Field Upgrade to increase the effectiveness of your armor. The later levels offer faster Loadout items usage, greater armor capacity and free Stims.
  • Medic – Stim Field Upgrade allows instant revives from afar. The Bomb Drone is available at higher levels.
  • Engineer: The Snapshot pulse field upgrade allows you to see your enemies. The ability to automatically replenish Lethals or Tacticals, an extra equipment allowance, as well as a Heartbeat Sensor and Spotter Scope are available at higher levels.

When will Raids be released?

Modern Warfare 2 Raids will be released as episodes. The first three missions are due on December 12th, along with what appears to be the first major update to the base game. According to, the official Call of Duty blog, this will be during Season 1.
