New Doctor Strange 2 synopsis teases “alternate realities” and a “mysterious adversary”
Doctor Strange now has an official synopsis. It teases multiversal misadventures as well as the movie’s biggest bad.
“In Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange, in the Multiverse of Madness,” the new synopsis says: “The MCU unlocks and pushes the boundaries of the Multiverse further than ever before. With the help of his mystical allies, Doctor Strange travels into the unknown to face a new enemy.
In the sequel to 2016’s Doctor Strange, Benedict Cumberbatch plays the title role. We last saw him in Spider-Man : No Way Home where he accidentally unleashed multiversal mayhem to try and help Peter Parker.
He’s joined in The Multiverse of Madness by Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Oslen), Sorcerer Supreme Wong(Benedict Wong), Baron Mordo [Chiwetel Eljiofor], Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams) and Americachavez (Xochitl Gmez).
Scott Derrickson will be replaced by Sam Raimi in the role of director for the sequel. Loki screenwriter Michael Waldron wrote the script. Recent filming on the sequel has been completed. These were inspired by audience reactions, which were seen in No Way Home as well as Loki.
The movie’s trailer first gives some clues as to who this mysterious new antagonist is. We see another Doctor Strange who seems far more evil than the MCU version. Could this be the Strange variant that we saw in Disney Plus animated series What if?
