Play football and save the world in Not Tonight dev’s adventure RPG Soccer Story

If football, as a game, isn’t enough for you, and your interest is piqued by the word football, but then melded with an absurd, sprawling action RPG let me for you to play Soccer Story by the publisher No More Robots and Not Tonight developer PanicBarn It will be coming to Steam, Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and Game Pass “soon”.

Soccer Story (which, despite its name and similar premise, is not related to the developer Sidebar Games’ magnificent Golf Story) is an all-one-player “physics-based” adventure in which players have to find, puzzle, and play their way to restore soccer – and, consequently peace and harmony in an environment where it’s prohibited.

Soccer Story promises an adventure filled with “quirky characters, quests, rogue refs, and wack soccer-adjacent sports” in which every challenge such as solving puzzles or discovering secrets – is solved with the help of your mystical soccer.

On the way, you’ll be able to take the field and enjoy playing the Beautiful Game itself, with players taking on an array of unimaginative opponents including toddlers and sharks to Ninjas and OAPs in their quest to improve their football skills. There’s even a local multiplayer game mode featuring animal captains to help you when you’re in need of some time off from your quest.

Soccer Story (which I’ll be thinking of as the much more superior Football Fable, now that No More Robots has placed the name in my mind) will launch in the coming months, with the PC beta set to launch “very soon”. Anyone who is interested in participating is able to sign up today.
