Pokemon Legends: Arceus gets the series’ fourth-biggest UK launch ever
Pokemon Legends: Arceus is the fourth largest Pokemon launch ever, surpassing the likes Black and White, Shining Pearl and Brilliant Diamond.
According to GamesIndustry.biz’s head Chris_Dring (opens in new tab) , Pokémon Legends: Arceus has already been generating impressive numbers for Nintendo, despite being released just three days ago. The launch of the new Pokemon title was a success, surpassing other titles in the series like Let’s Go Pikachu and Pokemon Yellow.
These stats, according to the tweet, are only for retail data (not digital data). However, it’s been an impressive start for Pokemon Legends Arceus.
It currently ranks between Pokemon Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby and Pokemon Black/White as the third-biggest game launch. Not surprising, Legends Arceus beat Shining Pearl and Pokemon Brilliant Diamond last year. This could be due to Arceus being a new game and BDSP being a remake.
A hint was given by the launch of Pokemon Legends Arceus a few days before, when UK retailer Currys announced that Pokemon Legends Arceus had been its most pre-ordered game. The electronics store predicted that more than 25,000 copies would be bought on Pokemon Legends Arceus’ launch day. Many more will likely purchase the game after its success.
It appears that Pokemon Legends could receive some DLC in the future, if one Pokemon leaker is correct. @Riddler_Khu (opens in a new tab) tweeted that Pokemon Legends: Arceus would get some new content in April 2022. We’ll have to wait to see if this is true, as there has been no official announcement from Nintendo, Game Freak or The Pokemon Company.
