Take Two CEOs express severe scepticism about Metaverse Bubble

The metaverse was a topic that the gaming industry debated at the start of the year. The metaverse is a virtual world in which real and imaginary elements can be combined in all its games. Ubisoft and Facebook have shown a great interest in the idea. Some have even invested large sums of money. Take Two Interactive CEO now calls it a topic of metaverse. Strauss Zelnick, in an interview with Gameindustry.biz asked Strauss Zelnick about the Metaverse. He also explained why he did not feel the same way.

All companies suddenly think that Nirvana is around the corner and have metaverse written on their corporate strategy. It is incredibly difficult for people to entertain and even more difficult to create hot brands. It is expensive, time-consuming and carries too many risks.

 

I’m a little skeptical about someone who can’t exist for two years, learns a new word, opens a blockchain-based metaverse, and then sells virtual properties for millions of dollar in just two days. I respect the challenges that I face in entertaining people on this property. I also don’t know how much this property is worth. That’s what I often seem to lose.

Zelnick eventually describes a metaverse bubble that isn’t a huge winner for many companies. Zelnick disagrees with the idea, even though he compares industry behavior today to the dot-com bubble of the 1990’s.
