TeamGroup’s latest PCIe 5.0 SSD has been revealed – and with some seriously fast specs
TeamGroup has unveiled (opens in new tab). the T-Force Cardea 5.0 Gen 5 SSD, which promises a very impressive next-generation performance. According to the company, this M.2 NVMe drive can reach sequential read speeds of up to 13,000 MB/s and write speeds of more than 12,000 MB/s.
These are bold claims. TeamGroup seems to be more than happy to back up this blazing performance: “it will become the most powerful PCIe Gen5 flagship SSD available when it launches.” The available capacities will reach up to 4TB. This drive, while expected to be quite expensive, is perfect for anyone who wants to take advantage of DirectStorage and the most recent games.
The TeamGroup T-Force Cardea Gen 5 SSD launch date has not been revealed yet. However, it is expected that it will be available sometime in Q3 2022 (July-September). This is a great time to be in the ever-expanding storage speed battle.
This means that TeamGroup has created the fastest SSD for gaming, from a technical perspective. It also happens to be the fastest M.2 SSD currently on the market. Current Gen 4.0 drives can reach speeds up to 8,000 MB/s technically, and we are now seeing more models at a consumer level to achieve this figure. However, Gen 5.0 will be attempting to surpass its potential as we move into the age of PCIe 5.0.
This is a good sign that more companies will soon announce PCIe 5.0 Generation 5 SSDs. It also demonstrates one truth: PC hardware will move really quickly.
