The Book of Boba Fett and The Mandalorian “repurposed” concepts from Star Wars 1313

Star Wars 1313, the cancelled game, has seen its concepts given new life by The Book of Boba Fett. Mandalorian TV shows have also helped to revive them.

In response to Star Wars 1313 gameplay leaked showing Boba in Coruscant by Grant Parker, Grant Parker, game designer, discussed the game’s early concepts and art on Tweet (opens in new tab). Parker stated that a lot of the original concept material from 1313 was repurposed and used for Book of Boba Fett and Mandalorian. “I was so happy that the latest episode had a meat locker with Tauntauns inside it.”

Parker is currently a game designer for Ratchet and Clank developers Insomniac Games. However, he was previously involved in pre-production of Star Wars 1313. It was “very important” for him to do teeth-cutting work. He specifically mentioned early design work in a meat factory area. Steve McManus, a former LucasArts employee who is now with the Lucasfilm studio ILMxLAB, was apparently responsible for Parker’s work.

Patrick Wren is now an encounter designer at Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. He also shared (opens in new window) Parker’s passion for 1313’s enduring legacy.

Although this is not the first time The Mandalorian has raised Star Wars 1313 issues, it is the first time we have seen a direct connection between production and preproduction. Celia Hodent, an author, reminded everyone in December 2020 that Star Wars 1313 could have been the perfect game to satisfy fans of The Mandalorian. We have at least the PS2 and GameCube classic Star Wars, Bounty Hunter on GameCube to help us forget the past.

The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5 has links to other properties including Rogue One, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
