The Halo TV series has its first big controversy: Cortana’s new design

The Halo series trailer was launched. But the most talked about topic is the reaction to Cortana’s controversial redesign.

Jen Taylor, a game actor, will play Master Chief’s AI companion in Paramount’s upcoming series. This is a departure of the famous design from Bungie, 343 Industries, and other titles. While the original was far more robotic-looking and blue, the TV series’ version is more human-like.

“Can we Sonic film them to change Cortana?” One viewer stated in reference to the criticism of Sonic the Hedgehog’s original design for the 2020 release.

Cortana has received suggestions from others. Paul Tassi , a journalist, commented that Cortana needs to be “more fully blue and more hologram-y.” Another added “Kinda wish Cortana was more human-looking and [instead] closer to games.”

“At least Halo fans can agree on the worst Cortana design,” One Twitter account stated. “Still undecided on Cortana’s and Chief’s voices but wow!” Another stated.

Cortana is the most prominent, but there are also concerns about Master Chief’s voice. Pablo Schreiber will replace Steve Downes who played the role of Master Chief in Halo 2001. One commented it was their “least favourite part” in the Halo series trailer.

Paramount Plus will stream the Halo series on March 24, according to its website. Although attention will likely be drawn to Cortana’s story, there may be a reason. Halo will take place in the “Silver Timeline”, a separate canon to the games.
