The Witcher season 3 update suggests the Netflix series is starting to take shape

Pre-production for The Witcher season3 has started – the latest updates hint that there may be new locations and more scope for the next chapter of the hit Netflix series.

The executive producer Steve Gaub, as spotted by Redanian intelligence is currently location scouting in preparation for The Witcher season 3. His travels revealed large, wooded areas as well as a mysterious tunnel. Each of these places suggests that we will be traveling to a place perhaps less familiar on The Continent than Geralt or Ciri.

Lauren S. Hissrich, the creator and showrunner of The Witcher, has posted a photo showing her walking along a London path. Filming doesn’t have a set start date, but location scouting can be a great way to get the cameras rolling in a matter of months.

Gaub also shared an image of one of the interior sets from The Witcher season 3. A selection of props and foundations can be seen stacked. Gaub captioned this post (opens in new window): “We certainly won’t go smaller in season 3.

Hissrich previously stated to TechRadar (opens in new tab) in December 2021, that the creative process was just beginning. Now that we have the scripts, we will bring the directors and the actors back in and really get into the creative process.

The Wither 2 concluded with Geralt and Ciri together as The Continent’s strangest surrogate family in Kaer Morhen – with Redania and Nilfgaard, The Wild Hunt and a certain kingly dad all having Ciri in their sights. It’s not surprising that things could be taking a bigger step for the new season.
