Tony Hawk fans saw a remake for Pro Skater 1 & 2, but it appeared that plans were in place to bring back classic skating action to modern graphics.

Tony Hawk, a stream host at andyTHPS, shared the news that Pro Skater 3 & 4 had originally been to get their own remasters. However, the plan was ultimately scrapped by Activision’s merger with Blizzard.

From the release of [Tony Hawks PRO Skater 1+2], we were still going 3-4. Vicarious was absorbed into Blizzard, and they began to look for other developers. The matter was closed.

Hawk explained that Activision received pitches from various studios regarding how they would handle the Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3.+4. They couldn’t find anyone who would fit the bill.

Vicarious Visions was responsible for the Pro Skater 1+2 and merged with Blizzard on April 20, 2022. This merger was planned since Jan 2021. The team will not work with Activision for future Tony Hawk games.

Fans are disappointed to learn that it is impossible to get a remake of Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 and 4 anytime soon, despite the popularity these legacy titles enjoy.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 can be purchased on PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch
